NBHA Western Region Barrel RacesLook for your District or for a show close to you. Thank youDear NBHA Western Region Members: The Tough Enough to Wear Pink Race in Tehachapi raised $740 towards Breast Cancer Awareness. Thank you everyone who participated in this race. As I looked around on that beautiful day in Tehachapi, I could see everyone laughing, eating and just enjoying the day. Its always nice to see everyone having a great time at a barrel race. The BO-V arena is a wonderful place with wonderful owners, Darin and Karen Bowe who graciously donate time, material, money and love into each one of their hosted races. Last year's race was full of emotions with my brother in law, Jerry Sterling, just passing and Karen Bowe's Mother, Barbara Mclaughlin, passing away the day before the race from cancer. Karen rode that day in loving memory of her mother. This year Karen expressed her love to fellow barrel racers and friends on how much this barrel race has helped in the healing of loosing her mother. The Bowe's donated all the grounds fees collected at the May 12, 2007 race back to the TETWP Breast Cancer Awareness campaine. Karen's Father donated an additional $1000 dollars to this race for the cause. In honor of Barbara Mclaughlin, the race barrels were presented to Karen and Darin Bowe. God Bless You. A special thank you goes out to Susan Eskander, NBHA CA State Director, John Tabak, NBHA Official Announcer, Debra Zavatto, NBHA Show Secretary, the Tehachapi Western Event Association (TWEA) Members, the local 4-H group, Pony Expresso of Ridgecrest, Abilities Unlimited of Ridgecrest, Hemme Feed of Tehachapi, Kim Bilson, Broken Horn Arena, BO-V Arena, Bowe Construction, Charlie Horse Timing System, "Pork Chop"(Sean Cook), Bit-n-Spur.com and Out Behind the Red Barn, Miller Photo, Kelly Taylor, Jan Evanson. If I forgot you please let it be known YOU ARE APPRECIATED. It is always a pleasure to be your barrel racing host. -Colleen Brock |
